Water scarcity could affect 3 billion more people than expected by 2050 This is because of nitrogen pollution.

“While climate change influences water availability, urbanisation and agricultural activities have led to increased water demand and pollution, limiting the safe use of water,” explained researchers from Wageningen University and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research who published a study on the subject.

In particular, Holland and Germany are countries deeply affected by nitrogen pollution. The Netherlands has already drawn up a plan to reduce toxic substances through a series of measures such as reducing the number of livestock in the country.
