Antimicrobial resistance is one of the greatest challenges of our time, as reported by the study ‘Global burden of bacterial antimicrobial resistance’, published in the journal ‘The Lancet’.
It is also becoming a threat to the welfare of people, animals and the environment. In fact, such resistance makes it impossible to treat infections, this scenario is due to the overuse of certain drugs making drug-resistant bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Antimicrobial resistance has led to the emergence of superbugs that make treatment difficult and therapy less effective. The spread of new resistant strains of bacteria in animals increases the death of animals. Furthermore, if antibiotics end up in watercourses, resistant bacteria will also emerge in the environment that can infect living beings
