The way toxicity thresholds for chemicals are calculated is not accurate enough and does not eliminate health risks. A scientific report by the Endocrine Society and the International Pollutants Elimination Network came to this conclusion.

The dossier highlights all the risks of exposure to plastics, chemicals and pesticides. Experts in particular criticise the way regulators determine toxicity, suggesting that for some substances there is no safe dose. For example, the increase in chemical and plastic production is associated with the growing number of endocrine disruptions.

In particular, more than 75 per cent of serious illnesses are associated with carcinogens in food, toys and furniture. Scientists also question some of the assumptions on which regulation is based. One example is the one that claims toxic substances added to food when it enters the body do not do so at the same levels as when taken directly.
