Aspen Ellis, a seabird biologist, dedicated over ten years to studying seabird colonies and observed the increasing effects of climate change on their populations, including rising sea levels and changing fish distributions that left chicks without food. This experience led her to change her focus from traditional seabird conservation to exploring how offshore wind farms could be made safer for birds. While wind farms do pose risks, such as bird collisions and habitat disruption, experts contend that their environmental impact is significantly less than that of fossil fuel extraction, which contributes to climate change and severely harms wildlife.
