The discussion about climate change seems like a fairy tail. Luckily there are some examples that could show how dangerous global warming is. Indeed the Pakistani city of Nawabshah marked a new record in the last day of April, when the temperature rose to 50.2 C.

A citizen from Nawabshah, Ismail Domki, showed concern about the situation. «We are worried – he said – that the extreme heat started too early this summer, and are planning to migrate to other cities if the situation remains the same».

The record surprised also the experts. Indeed Ghulam Rasool, the director general of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, claimed: «We have issued forecasts about the extreme heat in Sindh province but were not expecting a world record in the month of April».

On the other hand, Domki complained about government’s answer to the problem. « There is no response from the government, – he explained – at least 24 cases of heatstroke were reported on April 30 and five of them were serious cases with people losing consciousness».

According to the Dawn newspaper, people are forced by the intolerable heat to stay in their houses all day. Towns seem abandoned and business activities came to a stop. Labourers’ and motorcyclists’ lives are really in jeopardy

Pakistan is considered one of the 10 most vulnerable countries to climate change. Heat in the southern port city of Karachi left more than 1,200 dead people two years ago.
