The first inter-institutional negotiation between the EU Council and the European Parliament, mediated by the European Commission (called “trilogue”), on the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (the so-called Epdb Performance of Building Directive) will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, June 6. Here’s what GEA learns in Brussels.

The negotiations are entering into full swing after both European co-legislators — Parliament and Council — reached agreement in their institutions in March and October, respectively. The positions of both EU institutions are far apart and also from the European Commission’s original proposal, which dates back to December 2021. The goal is to reach a political agreement between the two institutions as soon as possible.
