Environmental protest, Just Stop Oil activists block oil terminals

The environmental action group Just Stop Oil blocked access roads of 10 key oil terminals on Friday morning. They are sitting on roads preventing tankers from leaving the sites.
Why? Because they want to paralyse the UK’s fossil fuel infrastructure until the Government agrees. Indeed, they are demanding that the Government stops any new oil and gas projects.

Activists blocked oil refineries around London, Birmingham, Southampton, Purfleet and Grays, which they said were the biggest in the country.

Protests forced Exxon Mobil, one of the country’s largest privately owned underground oil pipeline distribution networks, to temporarily suspend operations at some of its sites (in Hythe, Birmingham and West London).

In a message posted on Twitter, Just Stop Oil said: “Fed up with a government burning your future – Join us on the road.” Their images showed protesters sat down blocking the roads near to the oil sites.
