Syria signs Paris climate agreement and leaves US isolated

Syria is going to sign the Paris agreement on climate change. The announce was made during the Bonn talks, the two weeks of UN climate negotiations. This will leave the US as the only country outside the agreement, after the decision made by President Donald Trump to leave.

With Syria signing, there are now 197 nations that signed the pact on global warming. The pact aim to put a clear limit on temperature rises.

Syria’s decision was symbolic, given the country’s disarray. Before Syria, also Nicaragua, the only other holdout on the Paris accord, made a similar announcement.
