Today is taking place the World Environment Day. This is a flagship campaign held by the United Nations for encouraging worldwide awareness on environmental issues. The annual event takes place every 5 June and the first edition was held in 1972.
This year’s theme is “Connecting people to nature” and Canada is hosting this year’s edition. Canada decided to waive or reduce park entry fees on June 5 or for a longer period.
The WED arrives few days after the decision of Us president Donald Trump to withdraw the Paris Deal on climate change.
